Suspect at center of police-involved shooting charged with drug-related crimes

The suspect at the center of a police-involved shooting in South Bend has been charged with several drug-related crimes.
The origin of the gunshot that wounded Minor has not been determined and is part of the ongoing investigation, according to St. Joseph County Police.
It was early Sunday morning, Sep. 1, when police were called to the area of Washington and Wellington Streets on the report of a disturbance.
An officer reported gunfire and discharged his weapon. Now, a California man who was shot during the incident faces possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana counts.
Antione Minor, 38, of Pasedena is still recovering in the hospital.
Police say they found pot and oxycodone in his car. The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation by St. Joseph County Police and Mishawaka Police.

READ LATEST STATEMENT FROM ST. JOSEPH COUNTY POLICE:
Pursuant to an Interlocal Agreement between South Bend, Mishawaka and St. Joseph County Police Departments, investigators from both St. Joseph County Police and Mishawaka Police Departments are investigating the South Bend Police Department officer involved shooting that occurred on the morning of Sunday September 1, 2024, near the intersection of Washington and Wellinton Streets in South Bend.
At approximately 4:22 a.m. Sunday, South Bend Police were dispatched to the area of Washington and Wellington Streets on reports of a disturbance from a large crowd in the street. As officers arrived on-scene, a South Bend Police Officer reported shots being fired. The officer then discharged his department issued firearm. A preliminary review of Shot Spotter detected a number of shots being fired. Body Worn Cameras also recorded these shots.
Antoine M. Minor, age 38 of Pasadena, California, remains hospitalized in stable condition for an apparent gunshot wound. The origin of the gunshot has not been determined and is part of the ongoing investigation. This afternoon formal charges were filed by the St. Jospeh County Prosecutors office against Antoine M. Minor for Possession of Narcotics, a level 3 Felony, Possession of Marijuana, a class B Misdemeanor, and Dealing in Marijuana, a class A Misdemeanor.
A female, age 23 was also discovered on scene suffering from injuries unrelated to the gunfire. She remains hospitalized in stable condition. The cause of her injuries has not yet been determined and is part of the ongoing investigation.
No officers were injured.
The South Bend Police Department and its officers are fully cooperating with the investigation. County and Mishawaka Police investigators are continuing to review body camera video, witness statements and other evidence. Once all evidence has been processed and reviewed, St. Joseph County Police Detectives will forward all evidence, witness statements, videos, photographs, facts and findings to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for prosecutorial review of the incident.
The Department cannot provide an estimated timeline for how long the investigative process may require. There will be a full release to the media and public of all legally releasable information and evidence, including audio of dispatch calls, police radio traffic, and all body camera and other video at the appropriate time following the investigation
READ LATEST STATEMENT FROM ST. JOSEPH COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE:
On September 1, 2024, the St. Joseph County Police and Mishawaka Police Departments jointly began an investigation into an officer involved shooting involving a South Bend Police Officer.  During the course of that investigation, Oxycodone (a Narcotic Drug) and Marijuana were recovered from a Toyota.  The Driver of that vehicle has been identified as Antoine Minor, 38 years of age, from Pasadena, California.  Mr. Minor had been shot during this incident and is currently recovering in the hospital.  The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation and is ongoing.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against Mr. Minor for these drug violations.  Specifically, Mr. Minor was charged with:
Count I: Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a level 3 Felony
Count II: Possession of Marijuana, a B Misdemeanor
Count III: Dealing in Marijuana, an A Misdemeanor
Please be advised that this release and the charges filed against this defendant are merely accusations and that he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
