A high-speed chase in La Porte County ended with a man’s arrest.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The sheriff’s deputy first noticed Alex Dekock car on “J” Street near 5th Street, driving with only one headlight and changing lanes without signaling.

When the deputy tried to pull Dekock over on State Road 2, the driver suddenly sped off, leading the deputy on a pursuit through several streets. The chase ended when Dekock lost control at the intersection of US 35 and CR 400 South, crashing into a parked SUV and the front of a home, causing significant damage.

Dekock, who was alone in the car, was arrested at the scene after struggling to follow commands.

A woman inside the home was injured in the crash but refused medical treatment.

Dekock was taken to a hospital for a checkup before being booked into La Porte County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated, and reckless driving.

He was released after posting bail.
