Two men originally from northern Indiana are dead, following a gas leak at a Florida home in Fort Myers Beach over the weekend.
Police believe a “disconnected pool pump exhaust” was responsible for the leak.
A neighbor called 9-1-1 Saturday night. He found one of the victims inside the home, and he said he could smell a strong natural gas odor.
Jack Faler and Michael Dewitt were already dead when responders arrived. Dewitt was determined to be the owner of the home.
Both men are said to have connections to Kosciusko County, with Dewitt once owning a business in Warsaw, and Faler’s family living in Syracuse.
Dewitt’s business was The Car Company, a now-closed shop and dealership on U.S. 30.
