The American Red Cross is assisting residents affected by the fire at Autumn Lake Apartments on the south side of Mishawaka.

Crews were called around just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The blaze broke out around the same time that strong thunderstorms were moving through Michiana.

Crews were back, early Wednesday morning, to douse some hot spots.

So far, there is no official word about the cause of the fire.
