Mishawaka’s new police chief sworn in

Mishawaka’s new police chief has officially been sworn in.

Alex Arendt, who is the former Assistant Services Chief, took the oath to serve as the city’s top cop on Wednesday.

The city says Chief Arendt’s career with the Mishawaka Police Department has been marked by a strong commitment to public safety, community engagement, and professional excellence.

Former Chief Ken Witkowski Jr. announced last week that he was stepping down and will serve in code enforcement.

Interesting that the old Chief stepped down for another role right before the mayor’s son was sentenced. It’s almost like tying up political loose ends…
