Niles Outdoor Dining Experience construction to begin this week

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)
Construction on the Niles Outdoor Dining Experience will start next week.
The project involves permanently closing Second Street between East Main and the north alley.
Curbs will be installed at the north and south ends. The current roadway will be milled and repurposed as a base for new concrete paving.
The area will feature a fireplace, overhead lighting, and a stage for performances. The street will have an inverted crown design to direct water toward the center drain.
Leader Publications reports Second Street will close from Main Street to the alley starting Sep. 3.
The sidewalk will stay open for businesses, and the street will be accessible for the Apple Festival Parade on Saturday, Sep. 28, though the construction area will be closed. The project is expected to be completed in late-November.
