Coroner: 3-month old Jacob Moneus died due to asphyxia

The Tippecanoe County coroner has ruled that three-month-old Jacob Moneus died Sunday morning of asphyxia.

There are many circumstances that can induce asphyxia, all of which are characterized by the inability of a person to acquire sufficient oxygen through breathing for an extended period of time.

Court documents say detectives found Jacob dead in a bucket with the lid attached and next to a trash can in the kitchen.

His father was arrested Sunday night.
