National New York Central Railroad Museum to move 1905 wood sided caboose

On Friday morning, August 9th the 1905 wood sided caboose will be moved from its current location near the Main street entrance of the The National New York Central Railroad Museum  to the rolling stock yard next to the Conrail caboose.
This is a more suitable place for the caboose and will enable the museum to better display and highlight the oldest piece of rolling stock on the museum grounds. Immediate plans are to build a covered shelter to protect future restoration efforts which include new siding and paint.

Crane Industrial from Granger will move the crane with work beginning around 7:30 am. The job is estimated to be completed in around 4 hours. The caboose will be lifted over the power line and set in place!
You’re welcome to stop by and check it out!
