Police Chief makes plea for tips after 200+ rounds fired, 4 hurt in shooting in South Bend

The South Bend Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting on Bissell Street that wounded several people.

The shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 28.

Police are now aware of four victims from this shooting – one additional victim self-transported to the hospital late Sunday afternoon.

At this time, it’s believed nearly 200 rounds were fired from multiple firearms.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling this investigation and is processing case facts and evidence.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP. Tips about firearm-related crimes that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
