Official court documents have been released regarding the arrest of a 49-year-old Valparaiso woman.
Documents say a 10-year-old foster child, Dakota Stephens, was found unconscious after police responded to a Valparaiso residence regarding the boy not breathing.
49-year-old Jennifer Lee Wilson told police that Stephens was her son who had just run away from the house, and that when he was brought back home he threw himself on the ground and said he was leaving again.
Wilson reported that she had laid on his midsection for about five minutes while she called his case worker. Stephens was taken to the hospital and airlifted to a children’s hospital in South Bend where he was pronounced dead two days later.
Wilson was arrested and is charged with Reckless Homicide, a level five felony.

A level 5 felony that only carries 6 years. Why not just send her to bed without supper and tell her to never do it again. Since nothing is really going to happen to her she’s going to do this again. Take away her female privilege and give Dakota real justice.
