Elkhart continues to recover from the storms that blew through on Monday evening.
“It really feels like we’ve turned a corner and the worst of the storm is behind us. We continue to be grateful that Elkhart came out of this event without any injuries or fatalities. The work of cleanup and meeting the immediate needs of our residents is ongoing. We don’t want anyone to feel alone, so please reach out to us if you need anything.”  -Mayor Rod Roberson
Thursday, July 18, was spent mostly in recovery mode. Debris clearing has been a major focus for city crews.
The Red Cross is continuing to operate its shelter and resource center at Concord West Side Elementary. The city says the best way to address immediate needs is to visit the resource center or call the Red Cross at 1.800.733.2767.
Staff from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security hit the streets today to do a comprehensive inventory of damage. As of this afternoon, their work is complete in Elkhart.

Residents are encouraged to continue to put their requests for debris removal in MyElkhart311 or by calling 211.
