Rep. Banks at RNC: Now is not the time for wimpy Republicans

Indiana Congressman Jim Banks was the prime-time speaker for the second day of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

Banks spoke for roughly five minutes and rallied Republicans as more members of the party came out in full support of former President Trump. Those included former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley who endorsed Trump.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also spoke although he made no mention of an “endorsement” of Trump, he did urge Republicans to unite against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and illustrated out “bad” things have been under President Biden.

Sticking with the theme of the evening which was “Make America Safe Again”, Banks spoke about his military service.

“As an Afghanistan War veteran, I’ve never been more ashamed than when Joe Biden’s disastrous withdrawal left 13 American heroes dead and then he lied about it,” Banks said in his speech. “We went from the strongest president of my lifetime in President Trump, to the weakest president in Joe Biden.”

Banks said that now is not the time for “wimpy Republicans” and urged as many as possible to vote this November.

He also touched on his background as a son of a factory worker and a nursing home cook who grew up in a trailer park, which has been a recurring talking point of his as he continued to garner support for his own campaign.

Banks is running for the U.S. Senate seat being given up by current Sen. Mike Braun, who is not seeking re-election to that office. Braun is now the GOP nominee for Governor of Indiana.
