Two people killed, another injured after crash on State Road 9 in LaGrange County

Two lives were claimed and a third person was seriously injured after a crash in LaGrange County.

The collision happened around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, on State Road 9, just north of County Road 200 South.

A Toyota RAV 4 traveling southeast crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Toyota Tundra, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office.

Phillip Shirmeyer, 77, of Wolcottville, was driving the RAV 4 and died at the scene. His passenger, Sandra Shirmeyer, 70, died while being airlifted to the hospital.

The Tundra’s driver, a 62-year-old LaGrange man, was also airlifted and was last listed in critical condition.
