Two arrested after pursuit near LaPorte-Porter County line

A pursuit near the LaPorte-Porter County line led to two arrests.
On Saturday, June 29, around 1:30 a.m., Trooper Nicholas Isajczuk was patrolling I-94 near the Porter/LaPorte County line when he spotted a speeding gray Toyota SUV without headlights or tail lights. Despite reaching speeds over 110 mph, the trooper eventually caught up as the SUV merged onto the shoulder to pass another car.
The chase continued off the interstate onto U.S. 421, heading into Michigan City, and then back west on U.S. 20. The pursuit ended in front of the Pilot Truck Stop in Porter, IN. The driver, Mohamed A. Ahamed Ahrar, 26, from Mechanicsburg, PA, was arrested after failing a chemical test with a BAC of .09%. It was revealed that his passenger, Joshua C. Reed, 32, from Chicago, IL, had urged him to stop but was ignored.
Reed was found with Ketamine and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both men were taken to LaPorte County Jail.
