A Chicago woman has been arrested after threatening and biting an Indiana State Police trooper during a traffic stop.
On Saturday, June 29, around 6:40 p.m., Trooper Justin Baumeister was patrolling I-94 when he saw a silver Hyundai speeding. The car, with Illinois plates, was going 105 mph in a 70 mph zone, weaving without signaling, and passing on the right. Trooper Baumeister activated his lights and pulled the car over after a brief delay.
The driver, Shelby E. Foster, 22, from Chicago, showed signs of being drunk and became verbally aggressive. She claimed her relative was a Chicago police officer and demanded the trooper call him. While searching her purse, Baumeister found two fake Illinois IDs.
On the way to Porter County Jail, Foster managed to remove one of her handcuffs. When Baumeister stopped to secure her, she resisted and bit his right arm. After restraining her again, Baumeister continued to the jail, where she threatened him and his family and refused a chemical test. She also spat on a jail officer during booking.
