An Elkhart man lost his life after crashing his vehicle on State Road 120.

The collision happened just before 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, two miles east of Bristol.

Fernando Diaz Calderon, 26, was traveling westbound, west of CR 131, and went left of center and exited the roadway to the south side of SR 120. He struck a mailbox and then struck a tree.

The vehicle rolled once and came to a stop.

Calderon was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger was taken to the South Bend Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
