The Indiana ACLU announced their opposition to bringing back the death penalty on Friday.
This comes one day after Governor Eric Holcomb and Attorney General Todd Rokita asked the state Supreme Court to schedule an execution date for Joseph Corcoran, who was found guilty of killing his brother, sister’s fiance, and two friends back in 1997.
The Indiana ACLU said they were “deeply concerned” with the plans to resume capital punishment.
They cited a lack of public support and room for error as reasons not to execute someone on death row.
