Berrien Springs man sentenced for identity theft scheme

A man from Berrien Springs has been sentenced for an identity theft scheme that netted him $50,000 or more.
In Berrien County Trial Court 45-year-old Kyle Michael Manley admitted to: Three counts of identity theft,  two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, one count of uttering and publishing fraudulent document use, and two counts of contempt of court.
Leader Publications reports Manley’s scheme involved stealing checks from mailboxes and using their information, with a computer program, to open fraudulent bank accounts.
He received multiple prison terms, ranging from 18 months to 14 years, which will be served concurrently.
