UPDATE: Suspect in Cass County triple stabbing taken into custody

UPDATE: Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that just before 11 p.m. on Friday, June 21, deputies received notification from a resident in Saint Joseph County, Michigan, that John Coons was in their driveway.

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Saint Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, and Troopers from the Michigan State Police responded and were able to take Coons into custody after he surrendered peacefully.
Sheriff Behnke would like to thank the assisting law enforcement agencies and the members of the public who provided tips and information that resolved this incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has named a suspect in a triple stabbing.

An Assault with intent to Murder warrant has been issued for 28-year-old John Coons for the stabbing of the three victims, ages 75, 73, and 31.

The stabbing took place, Thursday night, at a home in the 32000 block of School Street in Silver Creek Township.

Anybody with any information about Coons’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
