A crash in Bristol left a 21-year-old man injured and having to answer to authorities.
The collision happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, on County Road 131.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the Middlebury man lost control while navigating a curve, left the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.
The man suffered seat belt abrasions, cuts on his arms, legs, and torso, and a fractured right ankle. He was trapped in the vehicle until Middlebury emergency crews rescued him and took him to Goshen Hospital.
Pot and paraphernalia were found in the car.
The man failed a drug recognition evaluation at the hospital and submitted to a blood draw. Toxicology and lab testing is pending for his blood and drug items.
The Prosecutor’s Office is considering charges for DUI and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
