Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer will finish her second and final term in office in 2026, and talk has begun about which Democrats might possibly make an effort to take over for the term-limited governor.
No one has announced themselves as candidates, but last week’s Mackinac Policy Conference held by political and business leaders saw high-profile Democratic names being positioned for the eventual race.
Bridge Michigan says those names included Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel. All four were at the conference.

Don’t worry democrats, the uneducated stupid people in Michigan will vote democrats because the believe lies not reality. The democrats have dragged Michigan into a hell hole and they will gladly keep it there. Unemployment is rating second highest in America. Criminals roam free everywhere in Michigan. No jobs but lots of taxes. The American government will gladly back the worst person to run. Every one on this list is not for the people. They want control over you and you will give it to them. Keep voting democrat and you will have nothing but regulations, no rights, your children will learn nothing but hate for everyone, no history, no math, no morals and you still will vote democrats. The stupidity of people today. Always wanting someone to take care of you. You don’t work, you think everyone should think the way you think, your standards, you don’t have any. Killing someone who you think gave you a dirty look. You don’t work but you have a cell phone, tennis shoes that cost in the way too much. Governor now wants you to believe your life is wonderful. Stupidity is roaming free in Michigan. Will not stop until school system go back to teaching things that children need to grow and have a good life. Not telling them to hate freedom, their own country, using race to divide the population. The people wanting to run have done nothing for Michigan. Mayor who City is rated number one for people not to go, SOS who has rigged elections and the others who will do nothing for Michigan. They tax the retirees, they fix the roads with worse and lowest grate of cement so they can say we are fixing the roads, someone kills other and get a couple of years in jail because someone crooked lawyer say this person had a bad childhood. Making excuses is just wrong. But the decent majority get blamed for useless people causing hurt and harm. Sorry but the governor now has really done nothing good for Michigan. She lied about who she works for, it’s not the people, she locked you down and did nothing to stop the destruction of businesses, she murdered thousands of seniors with virus, she got to see her father but you couldn’t be with your family members dying. But go right ahead and keep voting for a democrat. Your children will suffer but as long as they say we are doing everything for you with out any proof you will still vote for socialism, communism and being controlled because you have become weak and useless and you love that way.

Maryann : you must have a short memory. Remember what happened the last time we had a Republican governor? He and his cronies put the emergency management law back in effect after the people of Michigan voted it out. And what happened, they poison and killed the people of the city of Flint. They also pasted the Right to Work law which if you read the language on it doesn’t help the working class,it only helps business. They are a lot more other things they pasted that didn’t help the people of Michigan.
