A woman had her pretrial conference on Thursday after being accused of attempting to kill her dog.

Documents say a witness told officers that Kathleen Knoth had walked her dog down to a lake and thrown it in the water multiple times before grabbing  the dog and holding it under the water for a few seconds.

A witness confronted Knoth, though she allegedly threatened to shoot him before returning to her vehicle. When police arrived, Knoth was found with a handgun tucked into her waistband and yelled at officers asking what they wanted. Police say Knoth yelled profanities at them and refused to follow orders to step away from the gun.

According to The Goshen News, Knoth then pointed her fingers in the shape of a gun and yelled “bang” while making a shooting motion.

Police were eventually able to grab and handcuff her. She was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement, intimidation and animal cruelty. Her jury trial is set for August 12.
