A man and woman on a motorcycle ended up in the hospital after a collision on Marcellus Highway.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, near the intersection with Griffis Road.

Cass County sheriff’s deputies say a 54-year-old Decatur man was traveling when the motorcycle he was operating had mechanical issues, which caused him to lose control and crash on the road.

His passenger, a 44-year-old Elkhart woman, went down with the motorcycle, as well.

The man was airlifted and the woman was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for care.

Police say neither crash victim was wearing a helmet.
