Boy, 11, and girl, 4, killed in two-vehicle crash in LaPorte County

Two children were killed in a crash in LaPorte County.

The collision happened around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the intersection of Joliet Road and County Road 900 West.

The initial on-scene investigation determined a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer pulling a U-Haul traile driven by a man from Justice, Illinois, was traveling south on County Road 900 West. A 2011 Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by a LaPorte man, was traveling east on Joliet Road.

The Chevrolet disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and the Ford collided with the Chevrolet in the intersection, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

Both drivers sustained upper body injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

There were four passengers in the Chevrolet, all from Justice, Illinois.

A 36-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl suffered upper body injuries and were taken to the hospital for care.

An 11-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl in the Chevrolet died at the scene.
