Detectives with the Michigan State Police were called to investigate an officer-involved shooting earlier this week.

It happened around 7 o’clock Tuesday morning when a Buchanan police officer responded to a call of an erratic driver in the area.

The vehicle, found to be stolen, was located and a traffic stop was attempted, but the driver, a 33-year-old male, fled, causing a pursuit.

The driver led authorities down a dead-end road before putting the vehicle into reverse and crashing into both patrol vehicles.

Officers discharged their weapons at the vehicle, though the suspect continued to flee in the vehicle before fleeing on foot into a wooded area.

He was located uninjured and transported to the Berrien County Jail on charges including resisting and obstructing, fleeing and eluding and possession of a stolen vehicle.
