Illinois man sentenced after chase through LaPorte County

Martin Devalois of Romeoville, Illinois man was sentenced following a two-day jury trial in December.

The 40-year-old man was found guilty of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 92 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Documents say he led police on a 30-minute car chase throughout LaPorte County, at one point reaching 90 miles per house while driving through LaPorte.

The chase ended after he crashed into a snowbank, and police recovered a loaded handgun from the center console.

He was also found to have had multiple prior felony convictions, prohibiting him from legally possessing the firearm.
