Three firefighters fell through the porch of a three-story home while fighting a fire in Michigan City.

Crews were called to the home on Beachwalk Lane around 6:50 a.m. on Friday, April 19 to find smoke and flames pouring from the home.

There was nobody inside the home at the time the blaze broke out. The firefighters who fell through the porch were not injured.

Crews are credited with stopping the fire quickly and safely, and preventing harm to nearby homes and people.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office brought in a specially trained dog to sniff out any possible accelerants that might have started the fire. They’re still investigating.
