A LaPorte man called the police on himself after assaulting another man with a baseball bat and allegedly stabbing him.
It happened at a home on the 7700 block of U.S. 35 around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25.
When the sheriff’s deputy got there, Matthew Castaneda, 35, confessed to attacking the homeowner with a bat. Castaneda was apprehended, while the victim, found inside the house with upper body injuries, was taken to a nearby hospital.
It was later revealed that the victim had suffered a stab wound in addition to the bat attack.
Castaneda was charged with Aggravated Battery and is currently held in the LaPorte County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
