South Bend man sentenced to prison time on weapons-related charges

A South Bend man has been sentenced to five years in prison on weapons-related charges.
De’Quan Briggs, 28, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in U.S. District Court.
According to court documents, in June 2021, Briggs, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for violating his federal supervised release, was found in a car with a loaded handgun.
The firearm contained a high-capacity magazine.
It had been reported stolen two weeks previously from a gun shop burglary.
