A woman originally charged with robbery has been convicted of residential entry.

40-year-old Carrie Bets and 29-year-old Immanual Bostic claimed they had permission to be in an Elkhart home and that the home had been sold to them, but, according to a probable cause affidavit, the homeowner’s Realtor contacted police in June saying that the house appeared to have been tampered with and that nobody should have been at the home.

The Goshen News reports that the suspects told police that a man named Mike had given them a tour and permission to stay there, though the homeowner confirmed that nobody named Mike was involved with the residence.

Meth and paraphernalia were located in the home, and both Bets and Bostic were arrested on charges of burglary, residential entry, theft and possession of meth and paraphernalia.

Bets was sentenced to one year at Elkhart County Correctional Facility and one year at Elkhart County Community Corrections for Residential Entry and Possession of Paraphernalia, but other charges were dismissed.
