There’s reaction from city leaders after former South Bend Councilman Henry Davis, Jr. says repeated racist, threatening phone calls he’s received have been ignored by South Bend’s mayor and police.
Davis Jr. says besides making racist remarks about him, the perpetrator has mentioned Henry’s son, parents, sister and community members with whom he’s worked with.
He says he reported the messages to Mayor James Mueller, the South Bend Common Council and to the South Bend Police Department, but no one has been responsive.
South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski says he received three voicemails — none of which detailed any threats — and Davis never filed an official report.
WSBT reports The mayor’s office calls the claims by Davis a “new level of political theater.”
