Indiana’s high school graduation rate for 2023 reaches second highest on record

Indiana’s high school graduation rate was the second highest on record this year.

Data shows 88.98% of high schoolers in the Class of 2023 graduated, up from 86.52% in 2022. And, 2023’s numbers are just .12% lower than the highest recorded record which was in 2016 at 89.1%.

While the state went down in percentage of students earning an honors diploma, Indiana remained above the federal graduation rate which stood at 87.52% for the year.

Graduation rates increased for Black students, Hispanic students, English learners and students in special education.

And, the Indiana non-waiver graduation rate improved from 80.58% to 84.92%, making a 4.34 percentage point jump.
