As you were trimming the tree at the end of this year, Michigan continued to trim its Medicaid rolls.
Roughly 450 thousand residents in the state have lost their Medicaid coverage, as the state has reviewed nearly one and a half million cases. Many of those who were dropped had failed to submit paperwork.
Bridge Michigan reports that the state has reached the halfway point of its review of Medicaid eligibility, with around 1-in-3 losing their coverage according to new data released on Thursday.
The Whitmer administration says it has made it a priority to keep as many people on Medicaid as possible, and one state health official says there are concerns that some children are being removed from the roll unnecessarily.
