Governor Holcomb announced a $127 million grant award for the FlexRoad project in northwest Indiana.
The grant comes from the National Infrastructure Project Assistance program to support the project on I-80/I-94.
According to Governor Holcomb, FlexRoad is an opportunity to improve mobility and safety while using strategies like dynamic shoulder lanes, variable speed limits, ramp metering and more.
He says that FlexRoad allows the Indiana Department of Transportation to optimize traffic flow and improve safety while minimizing impacts to nearby communities.
The funding will help cover over half of the estimated cost of the project which is set to have construction begin in 2026. Victor Garcia, MNC News.

Life long resident of Northern Indiana.
Anytime someone announces we got
A fix on the toll Road it ends up costing us more with fewer and fewer options..
US 20(E-W) US 6(E-W) has seen a marked increase in truck traffic BECAUSE of the fixes Indianapolis does for us.
True story.
Sounds like another racist road project from Pete Butt Judge. Another Dopey Prince Eric the Chinless Wonder of Hoosierville that will run out soon and saddle Hoosier taxpayers with more taxes to maintain. You know, just like he did with Covid emergencies, a short term deal and then expanding Medicaid a long term deal beyond our ability to sustain the program.
