Indiana sees first child fatality caused by flu this season

Indiana has recorded its first child fatality due to the flu this winter season, as reported in the Indiana Department of Health’s weekly update to its influenza dashboard on Friday.
According to the online dashboard, the child, aged between 6 months and 23 months, succumbed to the flu. However, the department did not disclose additional details, such as the child’s gender, location, or the timing of the incident.
As of the latest update, there have been at least 14 pediatric flu-related deaths reported nationwide, according to the CDC.
Indiana’s Friday update included four new deaths, bringing the state’s flu season total to 10.
All other flu-related deaths in Indiana during this season have involved individuals aged 50 and older.
