The University of Notre Dame has purchased the historic portion of the former South Bend Tribune building.

The building at 225 West Colfax Avenue has stood for more than 100 years and was home to the newspaper until it moved out in 2019.

The university says the purchase marks a milestone for their new 10-year strategic framework, which includes investments in science and engineering and collaborations to advance economic well-being in the South Bend-Elkhart region.

Last year, South Bend City Church purchased the other half of the building, which use to house the newspaper’s printing operations.
