South Bend Police investigating double shooting on Western Avenue

Two people were shot at the Family Dollar store on Western Avenue in South Bend.

It was around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, when South Bend Police were called to the Famiyl Dollar store in the 4800 block of W. Western Avenue on the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located one victim, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers were investigating, Memorial Hospital advised a second victim walked into the Emergency Room with apparent gunshot wounds. The second victim’s injuries are also not believed to be life-threatening.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
