A redevelopment project is in the works for The Woodland Crossing shopping center.

The City of Elkhart is investing $5 million into the center, which grew out of their economic development diversification plan, according to WSBT.

There are plans to expand Goodwill’s local Excel Center into the former Sears store, as well as plans for Heart City Health to bring a comprehensive healthcare facility to the space.

The City also plans on including housing in the 15 acre redevelopment plan, which could house around 200 to 400 people. Officials say the project could begin within the next 30 days.
