Two young children were hurt in a collision involving a horse-drawn buggy and a Ford F250 pick-up truck.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 23, on State Road 13 in Middlebury when a 12-year-old boy operating the buggy attempted a left turn, without using his signal, and collided with the pickup truck that was trying to pass on the left.

Neither the boy operating the buggy nor the 51-year-old Nappanee man driving the pickup truck were hurt, but an 8-year-old boy in the buggy suffered an arm injury. A 5-year-old boy in the buggy complained of facial pain.

Both younger children were taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment.

A 12 year old should not be operating a buggy on a busy highway. They should have the same rules as drivers.
