Two juveniles detained after shots fired incident on South Bend’s northwest side

Two juveniles have been detained following a shots fired incident on South Bend’s northwest side.

It was around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 4, when a South Bend Police Officer heard gunfire in the area of College and Werwinski Streets.

The officer immediately traveled toward the sound of the gunfire and quickly spotted two juvenile males running from the area.

One of the males was carrying a firearm. The juvenile carrying the firearm was then observed discarding the gun.

The juveniles attempted to flee from officers, but were both ultimately located and detained.

The discarded firearm was quickly recovered by officers.

No one was injured.

The juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center.
