The Notre Dame Fighting Irish increased their season record to 2 – 0 on Saturday after beating the Tennessee State Tigers at home by a score of 56 – 3.

The Tigers lone score would be a field goal in the 1st quarter. From there a dominant Notre Dame offense would take over the game putting up 28 points in the second quarter alone.

Two of Notre Dame’s quarterbacks, Sam Hartman and Steve Angeli, each threw for two touchdowns.

The team also ran the ball across the goal line on three seperate occasions.

The Fighting Irish are currently ranked 13th nationally and next play on the road on Saturday, September 9th, against NC State.

The Indiana University Hoosiers knew that Saturday was going to be an uphill battle to start off the season as they fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes 23 – 3 at home. The Buckeyes entered this game ranked 3rd nationally and it showed as their defense held the Hoosiers to just a field goal. IU quarterback Brendan Sorsby was 8 for 16 passing on the night throwing for a total of 58 yards. The primary highlight for IU was receiver Cam Camper who had three catches for 35 yards, including one 24 yard reception. IU’s next game will also be at home against Indiana State University on Friday, September 8th.

The Purdue Boilermakers were unable to hold off the Fresno State Bulldogs in their season opener on Saturday as they lost 39 -35. The Boilermakers entered the fourth quarter with the lead, but it was quickly snatched from them as Fresno scored within the opening minutes of the fourth. While the Boilermakers took the lead back, the Bulldogs found the end zone a final time with a 22 yard pass at under a minute to play. Pudue will hope to bounce back next week as they travel to take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, September 9th.
