center of an amazing community in the south side of Elkhart.”

Because of The Hub, they’ll be able to help even more children and families, “it’s building relationships with kids,” Peterson says, “no significant learning comes without a significant relationship.”

The building has wood basketball courts, an indoor soccer court, computer lab, recording / video studio, game room, kitchen, classrooms for adults and kids, and even more. Peterson says, “I don’t know what your passion is, but we can probably handle it here.”

Kids can work with with mentors like Tyler Litwhiler. He says that he’s excited to connect with the kids on another level, “we’re not just a daycare, we’re not just watching kids, we’re building active relationships with these kids.”

They can now support kids and their families, says Litwhiler, “not just the kids, but also the adults, the families,” he says, “we’re going to have classes for just our adults.”

David Gaona with Lifeline says that families are welcome, no matter their financial status, “after school programs for the kids is completely free,” he says, “that includes snacks and that includes dinner as well.”

The HUB is set to open up after school starts. It’s located at 2721 Prairie Street in Elkhart. More information on what they offer can be found online here.
