South Bend Councilman Henry Davis Jr. is calling for Mayor James Mueller and Council President Sharon McBride to cancel all outdoor activities until further notice due to the record-breaking air quality issues due to the Canadian wildfires.
Davis Jr. says that would not only safeguard the health of those vulnerable to respiratory issues but also send a clear message to the community that their safety and well-being are of utmost importance to elected officials.
South Bend Venues Parks and Arts did cancel their planned Boom Box event at LaSalle Park, on Wednesday, due to the inclimate conditions.

Does that include people shooting each other do to the air quality ? Stay in the house and behave because the air is bad.

Mr Davis, I know it may be difficult to comprehend, for your state of mental malfeasance, but some folks can make decisions for themselves. This proves that you do not care about people’s health. It shows how you really feel about people, you just get your rocks off by trying to CONTROL people.

Was the air quality to blame for Henry Davis Jr. driving drunk the wrong way on the bypass several years back? He didn’t get into any trouble, so maybe the air quality was sentenced instead.

How about people make their own decisions because that would send a message that our elected officials value the freedom of the community.

How does dictating decisions equate to caring? He’s basically saying that people (including you) are too stupid to decide for themselves.

Another one that wants to curtail our freedom of choice. Myself I can make my own decisions about if I want to go out in the current situation.
I also plan on cooking out on my charcoal grill and smoking some ribs in my outdoor smoker this weekend that is one of the rights of being a free citizen

This is yet another way to control. People should be able to decide if the air quality is bad enough for their personal health and make their own decisions if they should stay inside. Another political decision that should be left to the individual. Stop trying to control the citizens. We have already been through government decisions during Covid. Never get my vote with this way of thinking.

He needs to come up with a better issue to take a stand on. All he really cares about is being elected to any office.

Mr. Davis certainly gets the comments with any new story posted here. As of January 1st, 2024 he won’t be in South Bend city politics.
