Woman, 57, shot and killed on Russell Road in Baroda Township

A woman was shot and killed in her backyard in Baroda Township.

The shooting happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, at a home in the 2100 block of Russell Road.

According to the investigation from the Michigan State Police Niles Post, the 57-year-old woman and her husband were on their patio when the suspect, a 60-year-old man from Stevensville, pulled a gun and fired the gun. The woman’s husband and the suspect got into a struggle and the husband was able to get the gun away from the man who then took off in a vehicle.

Troopers found the man and placed him under arrest.

So far, the names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.
