The owner of an Elkhart bar was injured while trying to prevent a patron from driving under the influence.

Elkhart Police say just after 8:00 p.m. Friday night police were called out to Simeri’s Beardsley Street Tavern for reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.

There, according to ABC-57, the owner of the bar told police he tried to stop 36-year-old Anne Shreiner from driving by walking in front of her car.

She hit the bar owner, causing injuries to his head, back and wrist.

Reports alleged that Shreiner had also not paid her tab.

She was booked on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
