MDOT Worker; Benton Township Official Killed in Tragic Accident

A Benton Charter Township official who worked for MDOT was killed Wednesday morning when a semi lost two tires on I-94.

It happened near Territorial Road at mile marker 33. The Berrien County Sheriff’s office says 48 year-old Kevin White was working on the side of the road when he was struck by one of those tires. White was pronounced dead a short time later at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital.

White was an employee of MDOT who also served as the Township Supervisor of Benton Charter Township.

The driver of the semi, which was hauling vehicles, was a Wyoming, Michigan man who was cooperating with the authorities.
