St. Joseph County schools see drop in ISTEP scores in 2015

Similar to the trend across the state, most schools in St. Joseph County saw a drop in ISTEP scores in 2015.

In 2015, 53 percent of students across the state passed both the English/language arts and math ISTEP tests, compared to 74 percent in 2014.

The drop was expected after Indiana lawmakers dropped Common Core Standards and adopted new Indiana standards, which made the test more difficult.

Only Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation and New Prairie School Corporation exceeded the state average. All other public school corporations in St. Joseph County saw a drop.

Lawmakers are considering measures that would prevent schools and teacher pay from being affected by the 2015 test scores.

Here’s the full list of ISTEP scores for public schools in St. Joseph County.
