Three sex crimes reported on Notre Dame campus over the weekend

Two sexual assaults and a sexual misconduct incident were reported to Notre Dame Security Police during the first full weekend of the school year at the University of Notre Dame, St. Mary’s College and Holy Cross College.

The first “incident of sexual assault” occurred early Friday morning, Aug. 28, in a South Quad men’s residence hall, according to an email sent to students from campus police.

Another email from campus police over the weekend reported “an incident of sexual assault” in a Tower Quad men’s residence hall and an incident of non-consensual sexual contact in a North Quad men’s residence hall, both of which occurred Sunday morning, Aug. 30.

Further details about the incidents were not available.

Sexual assault is defined as non-consensual sexual intercourse, which is separate from non-consensual sexual contact in Notre Dame’s student handbook.

Victims of sexual assault can pursue a complaint through the university’s conduct process or a criminal complaint through law enforcement, according to the student handbook.
