Crash claims three lives at U.S. 20 and Fail Road in LaPorte County

Three people were killed in a crash on U.S. 20 at Fail Road in LaPorte County.

The collision happened around 12:50 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Jan. 17, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.

There were four vehicles involved; three passenger cars and one semi-tractor-trailer, the sheriff’s department reported.

In addition to the three deaths, two people were critically injured. Two others refused medical treatment at the scene.

U.S. 20 was closed between SR 2 and SR 39 during the investigation. The road was re-opened around 5:45 p.m. CST.

The crash remains under investigation and, as of early Tuesday night, the cause of the crash had not be determined, according to the sheriff’s department.

The two victims in critical condition were taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment.

I drive these a school bus here several times a day and I see most everyone with a phone and a steering wheel. Please folks , stop texting when driving, it kills. And yet everyone thinks that they will never slip up. If you text and drive you’re stupid and stand of good chance of killing yourself and others. Stop it
