They were looking for a girl and ended up finding a large drug stash instead.

Elkhart County deputies were looking for a 9-year-old girl who didn’t show up for school Friday morning at a home on the 57000 block of Ash Rd. just north of Old U.S. 33, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The girl was found at the home, but officers reportedly also saw a stash of marijuana in plain view. When police searched the entire residence, they allegedly found:

• 122 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

• 80 grams of marijuana.

• 37 THC edible suckers, which are a candy infused with the active ingredient in marijuana.

• Drug paraphernalia.

• Three guns.

Shawn Mutchler, 36, is initially charged with dealing meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A charge of dangerous possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon is also pending, according to court records.

The girl has been placed in the care of relatives, though the Indiana Department of Child Services is still investigating.
